Andrew McConnell to close St Kilda's Luxembourg bistro
Andrew McConnell's French-inspired St Kilda bistro Luxembourg will call last drinks on Sunday, April 9, less than three years after opening.
"I love St Kilda, I believe in the location but Luxembourg wasn't trading as well as we'd hoped," says McConnell.
It will reopen with a "pretty exciting" new concept in three months.
It's the second time McConnell has switched the Fitzroy Street site's identity.
Before becoming Luxembourg in 2014, it was Asian-accented Golden Fields, The Age Good Food Guide 2012 best new restaurant and original home of the lobster roll, now a menu mainstay at McConnell's Flinders Lane restaurant Supernormal.
Luxembourg launched as a partnership between McConnell and chef Chris Watson, who said he hoped Luxembourg would become a place where people drop in for a full dining experience or just a glass of wine.
Watson recently returned to McConnell's freshly renovated flagship, Cutler & Co in Fitzroy, to head the kitchen.
