David Jones' luxe new Sydney food hall is open for business
David Jones relaunched its Bondi Junction food hall on Thursday and it's a Disneyland of chocolate, cheese and Cape Grim beef.
It's the first David Jones' food hall to be redesigned after the retail giant announced in June it will be undertaking a $100 million upgrade of its food businesses over the next three years.
Chef Neil Perry partnered with David Jones in 2016 to create "world-class food experiences" and the new food hall offers fresh fruit and veg, pre-prepared meals, wine and liquor (including a lot a high-end champagne), knock-out cheese, fresh seafood, meat butchered to order, boutique chocolates and a very serious selection of condiments, seasonings and sauces.
There's an onsite restaurant and if you're keen on the sushi or beef you had for lunch, you can take home the same tuna or rib-eye and cook it for dinner. The oyster bar is still there and the chocolate-dipped strawberries, too. Even Neil Perry couldn't get those things taken off the menu.
David Jones' Melbourne and Sydney CBD stores are scheduled for a similar food hall relaunches within the next 12 months.
